I'm reading an academic book on the intellectual history of scurvy (quite an intriguing find at a massive Princeton University Press sale) & one facet of it is deeply annoying to me.

It has in-text citations. Actual parenthetical citations in the middle of the text. Horrible.

SCOOP: We’ve got a draft copy of the Navy’s budget wish list. It totals just over $2.5B (with military construction projects) but notably doesn’t include any new ships.

The Marines, by contrast, requested $1.7B for an amphib on their list. https://subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2023/03/marines-ask-for-san-antonio-class-amphib-in-unfunded-requirements-list-00087970

Maybe don't do a sedition next time? 🤷‍♂️

Dr. Benjamin Braddock @GraduatedBen

Evil people celebrate Sherman because of his ‘March to the Sea’ campaign.

This wasn’t some impressive military operation like Jackson’s Valley Campaign: it was a campaign waged against women and children far away from the Confederate army. Farms and homes were burnt… https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1638547976338436096
